Emerald Beach, NSW

Emerald Beach Playground

Years in the making and shaped by the local community, Emerald Beach Playground brings a festival of colour and adventure to the Coffs Coast. Delivered through a partnership between the City of Coffs Harbour, the Coffs Coast Regional Park Trust and the Emerald Beach Fair Committee, the waterfront precinct is anchored by a custom Connect unit designed to give Emerald Beach a play experience of its own.

Project Overview

Budget (Equipment Only)
$120,000 – $150,000

Shaped By The Community

The Emerald Beach community has been closely involved in the project since master planning began in 2017. Local input helped establish the vision for a welcoming meeting place where families could gather, play and enjoy the beachfront setting.

Children also had a direct say, helping to select their preferred playground design. The result reflects the people who will use it most and brings years of community planning to life.

Custom Play By The Coast

At the centre of the playground is a colourful custom Connect unit. Slides, climbing challenges, nets, stairs and elevated play opportunities create different ways to move through the structure, while the bold colour palette gives the playground a free-spirited coastal character.

With the ocean just metres away, the built in Extreme Marine Protection package helps defend the equipment against the harsh, corrosive conditions of its beachfront location.

The playground forms part of a wider waterfront destination complete with shade, picnic facilities, connected paths, landscaped areas and direct beach access.

More Ways To Play

The playground was planned to support different ages, abilities and confidence levels. A dedicated junior play area caters for younger children, while swings, accessible play elements, a mini flying fox, nature play and physical challenges extend the experience across the space.

Together, these elements create a playground that encourages active, social and independent play within one of Emerald Beach’s most important community gathering places.
