Booralee Playground
Booralee Playground is one of the first to showcase a configured Moduplay Connect Tower, created with Growth Civil for Bayside City Council. The tower picks up the feel of the coast, with colours, form and play elements that echo the ocean. The surrounding playground balances high play value with community connection.

At the centre of Booralee Playground is the configured Connect Tower, designed to stand out and draw people in. Twin towers are linked by a rope-climbing tunnel, with ocean details worked throughout the structure and softfall below featuring sea life. Bringing this to life required careful coordination between design and engineering, balancing a more complex tower form with the level of challenge and detailing the project called for.
Around it, the playground layers in a mix of elements that support different types of play, from active climbing to quieter moments. The space is framed by open grassy areas that invite broader use, with the roadside edge fenced to create a safer, more defined play environment, and the majority of the playground is shaded to ensure longer and more comfortable visits
Beyond the tower, the play space also includes:
- A Wave Rider creating a shared place to sit, connect and pause within the playground
- Three low-level play panels, with fish-themed detailing on the reverse side
- A Premium play unit expanding the range of play experiences
- An accessible spinner supporting more inclusive use of the playground
- A Triple Bay Swing bringing in a timeless playground favourite

It was incredibly satisfying to deliver a solution that felt unique. Bayside City Council had a clear vision for a tower with real presence and more challenging play elements, while also wanting a subtle connection to place through forms that reference traditional fish traps and the fishing culture of the Traditional Owners. Bringing all of that together into one resolved outcome was really gratifying.
