Anzac Park
Working with Glen Innes Severn Council, Moduplay transformed Anzac Park into a modern, inclusive nature play destination shaped by the community it now serves. What began with a letter from local parents has become a $1.2 million community asset designed for movement, imaginative play and connection across generations.

A playground shaped by its community
The Anzac Park upgrade began with local families. In 2022, a group of parents wrote to Council, advocating for a modern and accessible playground that could better support children and families across the Glen Innes Severn region. Read more about the community consultation process here.
Their advocacy helped set the project in motion. Community consultation continued throughout the design process, giving residents the opportunity to comment on the proposed play elements, accessibility and safety features.
Within the available footprint and budget, the inclusion of a tower needed to be carefully balanced against the number and variety of other play experiences. Feedback made the community’s priorities clear: continue elevated play and provide enough variety to engage different ages, abilities and interests.
From the old playground to the new
The existing playground and surrounding picnic facilities had served the community for many years, but the equipment was ageing and access between street parking, amenities and the play area was limited. The space no longer provided the inclusive access or breadth of play expected from a contemporary community playspace.
The renewed Anzac Park offers a connected, multi-age play environment with accessible pathways, inclusive equipment and a much broader mix of physical, sensory and imaginative play.
A ramped Connect unit provides access to elevated play, interactive panels and a selection of slides. Additional play panels positioned throughout the park create opportunities for ground-level interaction, while distinct play areas allow younger children, older children and families to use the space together.
Inclusion across the playspace
Inclusive design was considered throughout the complete play journey. Ramped access to the Connect unit opens more of the elevated experience to children with different mobility needs, while interactive panels, the inclusive carousel and ground-level activities provide multiple ways to participate.
The range of equipment also supports different levels of confidence and ability. Children can choose fast and adventurous experiences or engage through rocking, sensory interaction, imaginative play and social connection.
An investment across three levels of government
Anzac Park demonstrates what coordinated funding and community advocacy can achieve. The project was proudly funded through the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5, the Australian Government Growing Regions Program Round 2, administered by the NSW Government, and Glen Innes Severn Council.
The completed playground is now a place filled with laughter, movement and community connection. Designed to serve local families for years to come, it has transformed a well-used public space into one of the region’s most significant recreation assets.
