Why play is critical in the “Imagination Economy”

The economic future of Western Society lies in the success or failure of our ability to encourage our children to become creative thinkers.

A strong statement? We believe it’s a fact.

Not so many years ago success in a regular business was largely about what resources you could get hold of, or what unique resources you had access to, that others could not access.

Not anymore. With the internet, everybody can get almost anything, direct.

This has left many businesses, manufacturers, professionals and service providers struggling to make a point of difference between their offering and what’s available from hundreds of other cheaper providers, mostly from overseas (for those of us in AU, NZ, US, UK, EU etc), directly, via the internet.

These days, success is no longer about what you can get. It’s about what you do with what you can get. In other words, it’s about how you creatively add value that cannot be easily automated or outsourced to a cheaper labour market.

So the question is, what steps as a society can we be taking to ensure we even have a future, not to mention a prosperous one?

What we need to do is address the problem at its core.

The solution is quite simple. It won’t happen unless we make it happen. It starts with our young. And it starts early in their lives.

It’s been proven beyond any doubt that free play builds creativity.

Even though we make and build play areas for children and families so they can really play, this story is not just about what we do.

This is a core message every parent and person charged with the care of children needs to understand and believe in if you want to make a difference in the life of your child or children and the future of our society.

When you allow your child or children to engage in active, real and healthy free play, and you allow it often and unhindered, you are giving our future community leaders and business entrepreneurs the best possible chance of learning how to think creatively, so they are ready to prosper in the “Imagination Economy” that lies before them.

Remember, success is no longer about what you can get. It’s about what you do with what you can get. We need creative thinkers & leaders to secure our future. You can start helping today.

Let children play.
