Federation Park

With the railway station nearby, a train theme felt right at home at Federation Park. Lithgow City Council wanted a playground that gave the community a familiar point of connection, and as an LGP supplier, Moduplay met the council’s procurement requirement.

A railway story

A train is full of possibilities: where is it going, who’s aboard, what happens along the way! At Federation Park, the whole front of the unit takes the form of Wombat Express, giving children an inviting starting point for their own journeys and stories. The nearby station makes that theme feel part of Lithgow, while earthy tones help the train sit naturally among the park’s trees and open grass.

Configure to make it yours

The Wombat Express gave us the starting point. We configured it for Federation Park by adding play elements at the back of the unit. The familiar train front stayed at the heart of the design, while the additions gave the small site more play to offer. This is the value of a configured unit: building on a catalogue design and adapting its layout and activities to suit the project.

Before and after

What was there was a small unit with limited play value and a separate swing set left the site with two disconnected pieces of equipment. We brought the swing and play unit together as one playspace. Additional elements at the back of Wombat Express add more play to the compact site, while the train carries a clear local story through the whole design.
