Colo Vale Railway Park
Delivered for Wingecarribee Shire Council, Colo Vale Railway Park is shaped by its setting along Railway Avenue, within walking distance of the Colo Vale Heritage Train Station. Designed with place in mind
At Colo Vale Railway Park, customisation was approached with restraint and purpose. Sitting alongside a historic rail corridor, the design draws subtle cues from the site’s railway heritage. The result is a playground that feels grounded in its surroundings while remaining contemporary, inclusive and welcoming.
The main focus was paying homage to the historic rail line behind the playground, while creating a unique and inclusive design for everyone who uses the space

Key play elements
- Swings for classic, everyday play including an inclusive seat.
- SkiRider to bring that “platform to platform” energy into the playground.
- A Connect unit that invites climbing, choice-making, and repeat runs.
- A learn-to-ride track with line marking and traffic signs. Built for scooters and bikes, and ideal for confidence-building laps.

Diversifying Play Experiences
The playground combines a central play unit with a dedicated learn-to-ride and mini-town area, broadening how the space is used and who it’s for. While the main structure supports climbing, movement and challenge, the learn-to-ride zone encourages skill development, confidence building and imaginative role play.
This layered approach creates a space that caters to different ages, abilities and play styles. From active group play to early riding skills, helping the park function as a shared community asset rather than a single-use destination.
