Inside Moduplay: Why Connect Works
Anyone can claim their systems work. What matters is how they perform.
In this video, we take you inside a live project where an existing Moduplay playground was replaced with the new Connect system. From site conditions to installation, we walk through the decisions that shaped the outcome.

From 2006 to now – Connect in the real world
This video sits under the Inside Moduplay series. Three standalone shorts showing how Connect holds up in the real world. See the system, the project and the process of how playgrounds come to life.
At Whimbrel Avenue, this means stepping back to see the full picture: a playground first installed in 2006, now being replaced by its next-generation system. The video captures that transition from the past and into the present, it also shows how long-term thinking, design flexibility and system-based planning come together on site.
It’s not a highlight reel. It’s a practical look at how Connect works in the real world, and why that matters over time.
Designing for more than day one
Councils aren’t buying a structure, they are investing in their community but also investing in a long-term structure, Connect supports this through the flexibility with the product, it reduces full redesigns during planning but also ensures no unnecessary replacements if something were to happen to a section of the unit. Longevity isn’t just durability it is also about relevance overtime which Connect shows up for.
See the process of how Whimbrel Ave came to be below.
Playing the long game
Nearly twenty years ago, Moduplay installed the original playground at Whimbrel Avenue. Today, we’ve returned to the same site to replace it, not because it failed, but because the needs around it have evolved.
This continuity matters, it shows not only the trust the council has in Moduplay, but also when the same company designs, installs, dismatles and rebuilds a playspace accross decades, you get a deep understanding of what works, what lasts and most importantly what needs to change. It creates a responsibility that extends well beyond a practicle completioon.
Connect is the result of this long-term view. It reflects more than 35 years of learning, investment and refinement, it is a system designed to adapt as communities grow, just as we have as a company.

Graded play that grows with children
Play doesn’t happen in neat age brackets. Children grow quickly, return often, and use the same space in different ways over time. When a playground caters only to narrow age ranges, its relevance shortens, families outgrow it, and the space stops working as intended.
Graded play extends that lifespan by offering a range of challenges within the same footprint. This means that a play space can support early exploration, skill development and higher-level challenge side by side. It gives younger children a clear place to start, older children opportunities to push themselves, and everyone a reason to keep coming back.
This layered approach is a direct outcome of Connect’s system-based design. It allows graded play to be planned deliberately, and not as separate zones, but as a connected journey. Children aren’t restricted or excluded from parts of the playground; instead, the space invites progression, confidence-building and shared use across ages.
