Slacks Park - Wollombi, NSW

The quiet country town of Wollombi needed a new playground that did not clash with the unique surroundings.

Wollombi being a retreat for those escaping the hype of city life, the new playground had to harmonise with the environment as well as meet the stringent requirements of Cessnock City Council for maintenance and play value.

Moduplay's designers developed a look that is in keeping with the many older buildings and heritage listed buildings in the immediate area successfully preserving the heritage look of the town. This is not a location where bright colours were in high demand!

Wollombi was constructed during the convict era and still carries signs of those times even today. The familiar convict arrow that can be seen in the area was included as a feature of the play structure and helps children get some connection with the history of the this unique Australian heritage town.

The outcome is an appealing, well-designed, Australian made play environment the township and the council can be very proud of.
